Free Crochet Baby Blanket Pattern

About Alfie’s Baby Blanket.

My nephew recently had twins a boy and a girl.
Of course I had to make them each a baby blanket to welcome them into the world.
Alfie’s Blanket is a  free crochet pattern for a light weight beginner friendly baby blanket and you will be surprised how easy it is. I used a light weight (3) Yarn  for the ones in these pictures.
There are colour block stripes in Alfie’s Blanket.
You can customize this blanket by adding more rows to make if bigger or using less rows to make it smaller.
Also you could use a chunkier yarn and the appropriate hook to make a heavier blanket.

Border.

Work in Main Colour.
Make 2 more hdc into same st at the end of Row 70.
Turn to work down the side of the baby blanket. Hdc into the end of each dc row. I like to make 2 hdc into the end of each dc row down the side of the blanket to the next corner, make 3 hdc into the corner, turn work and hdc into the first st in the beginning of the first hdc row.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Reattach the yarn to the opposite corner and ch1, make 3hdc into the corner st.
Turn to work down the other side of the baby blanket. Hdc into the end of each dc row. I like to make 2 hdc into the end of each dc row down the side of the blanket to the next corner, make 3 hdc into the corner, turn work and hdc into the first st in the beginning of the final hdc row.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
