Hi there everyone. I am pretty happy to be sharing this free crochet bralette pattern with you today. This is the first crochet pattern I ever sent out to testers and it was published a couple of years ago. For some reason it hasn’t made it onto my blog yet and I thought it was about time. It is called the Pretty Picot Bralette and it is still one of my favourites and a best seller over on my Etsy Shop.

Description for my Free Crochet Bralette Pattern:
The free crochet bralette pattern for my Pretty Picot Bralette is actually good for advanced beginners as it has such clear instructions. You will need to know how to double crochet and single crochet. The bralette is made by crocheting the two cups and then moving on to the bodice. The ties are added when the bralette is sewn together.
The picot edging is actually not that tricky and adds such a great finish to the top.
The great thing about this design of this free crochet pattern is that you can make the bodice as short or as long as you like, and so customize it to meet your needs.
You can see the different looks with the different lengths here. These photos are from Katy McEwan who kindly tested the pattern for me.

My tester Chris Soliz came up with this great idea for how to style your bralette. You can wear it to the beach in the summer and seeing it with the sunhat and shorts really gives a great visual for how to wear your brand new bralette that you created with this free crochet bralette pattern.
Also bralettes look great paired with a jacket or cardigan for a night out. So if you are looking for something special for a date night this could do the trick.
Are You A Visual Learner
I have a bralette tutorial for the Fanciful Bralette on my youtube channel.
There is also a left handed version.
All About the Yarn for this Free Crochet Bralette Pattern.
For this free crochet pattern I decided to use Red Heart Super Saver yarn as it comes in so many vibrant and fun colours. Red Heart Super Save yarn is so versatile and can be used in so many different types of projects. I use it for some of my Ivory Bralette and also for my Rainbow Fringe bralette. It is also great for shorts. Have you checked out the Bella B Shorts crochet pattern or the really cute Shell Shorts
Colourways:
Red Heart Super Saver yarn comes in 149 different colourways. 149!!! It comes in solid, prints and multis, flecks and heathers, and striped colours. You don’t even have to worry about matching dye lots as the colours never deviate. It is such a user friendly yarn.
Red Heart Super Save is a medium weight worsted weight yarn with a number 4 on the label.
The solid colour skeins are 7 oz (198 grams) and approximately 364 yards (333 metres). If you get the striped colours then they run smaller weighing 5 oz (14 grams) and 236 yards approx, or 215 metres
Care instructions for Red Heart Super Saver.
Another big plus for Red Heart Super Save yarn is that it is so easy to care for.You can wash and dry it in your machines. It is suggested you wash it in warm water and tumble dry. Do not bleach or iron your projects.

Bodice:
The bodice is the section that goes below the bralette and has the back straps attached to it.
This can be customized to fit your body.
I have listed the various sizes and how many chains are recommended for each size. You can, however, make a chain long enough to go from one side of your rib cage to the other. For a small/medium I suggest you ch 64 plus 3. You can make it smaller or larger, but make sure it is in multiples of 8 plus 3 so the pattern works.
I have written the bodice pattern for sizes, XS, S, M, L, XL
Recommended starting chains for the above sizes:
Extra Small: Waist size 25.”
Ch48+3 (this makes a 16.5”crocheted bodice) approx.
Small: Waist size 28.”
Ch 56+3 (this makes a 18.5” crocheted bodice) approx.
Medium: Waist size 30.”
Ch 64+3 (this makes a 19.5” bodice) approx.
Large: Waist size 34.”
Ch 72+3 (this makes a 22” bodice) approx.
Extra Large: Waist 37.”
Ch 80+3 (this makes a 24.5” bodice) approx.
Instructions:
Begin with mustard (main colour) yarn.
Once you have chained the required amount from the sizing information above follow this pattern. It is the same for all sizes.
Row 1: DC into the 3rd chain from the hook. DC into each stitch across to the end. Ch 2. Turn.
Row 2: DC across to the end. Make sure to put your first DC into the same stitch that the ch 2 is in.
Change to the contrast colour, (white or ivory yarn).
Row 3: Ch3, sk3 stitches, (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in next st, *sk3, (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in next st* repeat from * to * until last 3 sts, ch1, sk2, dc in last st.
Row 4: Ch3, *(2dc, ch1, 2dc) in the next ch1 sp (at the top of the shell)* repeat from * to * until end, sl st in top of ch3 (the turning chain from the previous row). Do not cut the yarn. Turn ready for the picot edging row.
For a longer bodice you can repeat row 4.
Picot trim for the bottom of the bodice lace.
Picot Edging Row: Sl st into next 3 stitches, sl st into the ch1 space, ch3, sl st into 1st ch, creating a tiny loop, (this is the picot), sl st into the same ch1 sp, *sl st into next 4 st, sl st into ch1 sp, ch3, sl st into 1st ch, sl st into the same ch1 sp* repeat from * to * until the last 3 st. sl st into these 3 st.
Joining the cups to the bodice.
Fold the bodice in half to locate the centre and mark it with a stitch marker or a piece of contrasting yarn.
Place the cups, right sides facing over the bodice and pin in place.
Check the sides of the cups to see that they match, with even sides of the bodice at each end.
You can attach the cups by whip stitching them onto the bodice. You can also sc them onto the bodice if you choose to.
Now you are ready to add the picot trim to the cups.
Picot trim for around the cups.
Join the cream or contrasting yarn to bottom edge where the cup meets the bodice.
Sl st into next 2 stitches, ch3, sl st into 1st ch, creating a tiny loop, (this is the picot), *sl st into next 2 st, ch3, sl st into 1st ch, * repeat from * to * until the top of the cup, sl st over the two stitches in the top of the cup, ignoring the ch 1 sp, *sl st into next 2 st, ch3, sl st into 1st ch, * repeat from * to * until last 2 st. sl st into these 2 st.
You are now at the V where the cups meet.
Move across to the second cup and repeat this pattern.
Halter Straps/Ties:
Join the mustard (main colour) yarn to the top of the cups. Chain 60 for a 20” tie. You can sc back down the chain if you want a thicker tie.
Do the same to the other cup.
Back straps:
Join the mustard (main colour) yarn to the side of the bodice and chain 80 for a 25” tie. You can sc back down the chain if you want a thicker tie.
