It is 2020 and a whole new decade. Also I am celebrating five years since I first started my Etsy shop. It is the perfect time to start my blog. So here is a little bit about how I got to where I am today.
Anniversaries are so important. Immediately I am cast back in time to when I decided to start selling my crochet items on Etsy. This business has already gone through so many transformation. When I started out I called my shop, My Beautiful Life and posted my crochet items along with my art works.
As time went by I discovered this was way to busy and it was hard for customers to actually know what my shop was for, crochet or art. So I split my shops and Carroway Crochet was born, alongside Pam Carr Art.
This made life much simpler and I feel I spoke more clearly to those searching for special crochet items.
A big milestone in my Carroway Crochet evolution was uploading my first crochet pattern as a .pdf to my shop. It was the Mayne Island Chunky Infinity Scarf and I gained a real appreciation for crochet designers and pattern writers as I went through the process of writing and formatting my first crochet pattern. So many details to take care of. But it was a real rush when I finally added this pattern to my Etsy shop, and I also added it to Craftsy, where I got my first pattern sale ever. Craftsy is going through its own changes and it is now called Blueprint.
2019 was an amazing year for me and the support I have had from others around my crochet has really inspired me to grow. I have twenty four patterns up on my Etsy Shop now and I have a fledgling YouTube channel, which I am adding to weekly. I invite you to go check out my latest tutorial on How To Crochet a Beginner Chunky Beanie.
I have grown to over 2000 followers on my Instagram and held my first big giveaway last week, tying in with the launch of my Blog. Thank you to all who entered.
So there is a lot to celebrate as the new year and the new decade begins. One thing that happened as 2019 was drawing to a close was I suddenly had the idea to make a 2020 Beanie. It seemed the perfect way to celebrate entering a new decade. So I graphed out 2020 and went to work designing a knit version first. Then I moved on to the tapestry crochet version, and I love them both. The patterns are about to go out to testers and I will be sharing them here as soon as they are ready to be published.
So welcome to 2020, a new decade and a new blog featuring a new beani. Join me in my exciting journey and I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you better as you comment and follow me here and on social media. We can all make things together.
Lots of free patterns are ready to be added here along with some blogs about Crochet books you might be interested in as well as products connected to the fibre arts world. I can’t wait to get started and to get to know you all better.
It’s great to join you in your blog. Congratulations! I love the slippers and think I need to make a pair for my grandson. I wonder if you can get those non-slip dots to attach to home yarn made things? I shall investigate!
Here’s to great success in all you do Pam.
Thank you so much Jill. And you are my first person to comment on my new blog. Thank you. I have the child sizes sorted out in my notebook. I will work on making them presentable.
