As Christmas approaches I am happy to introduce a Christmas Wine Tote pattern to you. The “Oh So Merry Wine Tote” is a fun way to gift wine over the Christmas season. I used a super bulky weight yarn for this Christmas Wine Tote free pattern and I used a white faux fur to trim the top. I added the snowflake for whimsy and to bring a real wintery style to this Christmas Wine Tote.

The Inspiration for my Christmas Wine Tote Free Pattern.
One of my favourite gifts to give at Christmas is a bottle of wine. You can never go wrong with this gift when it comes to your wine loving friends. SO I came up with this quick and easy pattern to make a unique and fun wine tote to gift your bottle of wine in. You can make this Christmas Wine Tote using only the single crochet stitch and super bulky yarn. There is cool handle for carrying your wine and the instructions are really easy for this. I love the touch of faux fur on the top and I designed a fun snowflake to add as a feature if you like. This is purely optional.
If you love the idea of a wine tote, then I think you might want to check out my water bottle holder that makes carrying your water bottle around a lot easier. They make fantastic gifts and make up so quickly.

This free Christmas Wine Tote free pattern is perfect for beginners as well as advanced crocheters. One of my favourite yarns for the Oh So Merry Wine Tote is Bernat Softee Cozy Yarn, but they look great in any super bulky weight yarn. Look for the number (6) on the label.
You can make the Winter Wine Tote using the single crochet stitch. It is made in the round, so there are no seams to sew and it grow very quickly. You will have so much fun making it and if you feel adventurous you can try making the snowflake.
The cuff and top trim ask you to single crochet with the fluffy faux fur yarn. However, if you don’t want this faux fur detailed look you can just opt to use the white super bulky yarn for the trim.
For those new to crochet, I have videos on my Carroway Crochet youtube Channel that demonstrate the single crochet stitch. I have both left and right handed version available to help beginner crocheters.
There is also a video explaining how to do the back loop only stitch as well as other great tutorials on my channel.
Yarn: One skein of super bulky weight (6) yarn. I used Bernat Softee Chunky yarn in Berry Red but you can also use Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick. Any super bulky weight yarn (6) can be used.
I used a faux fur yarn for the white trim at the top. You can use Go Handmade’s Fur Lux or Go For Faux Thick & Quick Yarn by Lion Brand. If you don’t want to use a faux fur yarn you can make an attractive white trim using any super bulky yarn of your choice. (6) weight.
Hook:: N/15 – 10mm
Notions: Scissors, tapestry needle.
Supplies you will need For the Snowflake.
You will need white worsted weight (4) weight yarn, or the colour of your choice.

Instructions:
The Oh So Merry Wine Tote is created in the round.
Chain 4 and sl st into first stitch to make a small circle. You may also begin with the magic loop if you prefer. Magic loops ensure a tighter closing.
Round 1:Ch 1, Make 6 sc into the small circle space. (6 sc stitches)
Note: We now begin to work in a spiral, so there is not a ch 1 at the beginning of the round and a join with a slip stitch at the end.
Place a stitch marker into the work and move it up after each round is completed. This helps you to keep track of your stitch count as you go.
Round 2: Make 2 sc into the next stitch and make 2sc into every stitch around. (12 sc stitches)
Round 3: Make *2 sc into the next stitch, make 1 sc in next stitch*. Repeat between * and * around to the end (18 SC at end of row).
Rows 4 – 25: Make 1 SC in each st in row (18 total st at end of each row).
Row 26: Ch 5, skip 5 st, make 1 SC in 6th st, 1 sc in next 3 st, ch 5, skip 5 st. 1 sc in each st for the rest of the row.
Rows 27 – 29: 1 sc in each st in row. Finish off by placing 1 sl st in the next 4 st.
Change to white faux fur yarn or white super bulky yarn to make the trim. Optional.
Row 30: 1 SC in each st in row.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
