The Inspiration for my Oh So Cosy Fingerless Gloves Free Pattern.
The inspiration for my Oh So Cosy fingerless gloves free pattern came from my customers who visit my market stall. After seeing my Short and Chunky Fingerless gloves they were asking for something that was of longer to cover more of the wrist, like the popular wristers out there. SO I came up with this quick and easy pattern still keeping the simplicity of the Short and Chunky gloves by using only the single crochet stitch. There is also some detail added to the cuff by using the back loop only single crochet. This is all explained in the pattern below.
If you love these Oh So Cosy Fingerless Gloves, then I think you might want to check out the Winter Time fingerless gloves crochet pattern as well as my Short and Chunky Fingerless Gloves. All these gloves are popular with customers on my market stalls, especially during the Christmas Season. They make fantastic gifts and make up so quickly.

These gloves are perfect for beginners. They are made in the round, so there are no seams to sew and they grow very quickly. You will have so much fun making these and sharing them with loved ones.
Suggested Yarn for these Gloves
One of my favourite yarns for the Oh So Cosy Fingerless Gloves is Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick Yarn, but they look great in any super bulky weight yarn. Look for the number (6) on the label.
There are two sizes available as well so they can fit women’s small or medium/large sized hands.
Don’t forget to pin it for later and also add it to your Ravelry queue.
The Oh So Cosy Fingerless Gloves are Beginner Friendly
This free fingerless glove crochet pattern is perfect for beginners as well as advanced crocheters.
You can make the Oh So Cosy Fingerless Gloves using the single crochet stitch. The cuff and top trim ask you to single crochet into the back look only. However, if you don’t want this detailed look you can just opt to use the single crochet all the time.
Are You a Visual Learner?
For those new to crochet, I have videos on my Carroway Crochet youtube Channel that demonstrate the single crochet stitch. I have both left and right handed version available to help beginner crocheters.
There is also a video explaining how to do the back loop only stitch as well as other great tutorials on my channel.

-

sc = Single crochet
-
scblo =Single crochet in the back of the loop.
-
Scblo dec= Single crochet back loop only decrease
Special Stitch for this Pattern
The Single Crochet Decrease in the back loop only (scblo dec)
This decrease happens in the last row of the glove which is a scblo row.
To work the decrease you insert the hook into the back loop only of the next stitch, yarn over and pull through, (two loops on hook), insert the hook into the back loop only of the next stitch, then yarn over and pull through, (three loops on the hook) then yarn over and pull through all three loops.
This pattern uses US terminology. The US and UK crochet terms are different, but they use the same terms to describe different stitches. Here is a simple conversion chart for anyone in the UK.
USSingle Crochet (sc)Single Crochet in Back Loop (scbl) |
UKDouble (dc)Double Crochet Back Loop (dcbl) |
Notes: Please read before beginning the instructions.
The instructions for both sizes are written below.
I have written two numbers to represent the number of stitches you will have at the end of each row. The first number is for the small size, and the second number is for the standard size.
Eg: When you see Ch 13 (15), the 13 is for the small size and the 15 is for the standard size.
These gloves are crocheted in the round so you do not turn the work.
If you do not want to have the fancy cuff you can just do single crochet in rows 2-6, instead of the single crochet through the back loops only.
Instructions:
First hand. Chain loosely so it fits easily over the hand
Ch 13 (15). and join with a sl st into the first chain to form a ring, being careful not to twist the chain.
