When is Galentines Day?
According to Urban Dictionary, Galentine’s Day is celebrated on February 13, the day before Valentine’s Day. It’s a day to celebrate the love you have for your women friends, whether they’re single or not, and it is the time to shower them with love and attention…more than you do every other day.
How did Galentines Day Come To Be A ‘Thing’?
It is magical to know that Galentine’s Day was created by a fictional character, namely Leslie Knope of Parks and Recreation. In the second season of Parks and Rec in 2010, there was an episode called “Galentine’s Day”. It was in this episode that Leslie gets together with a group of her closest girl friends for a special brunch full of “waffles and love.”
So just like that, Galentine’s Day was born, and it has been unofficially added to everyone’s calendar. It is now widely recognized as an unofficial holiday and is gaining in popularity.
So What About Palentine’s Day?
So, much like Galentine’s Day, Palentine’s Day was created to show how much we think and care about all our friends when it doesn’t fit into the parameters of the traditional romantic meaning of Valentine’s Day.
Palentine’s Day also takes place on February 13, and is a gender-inclusive, identity-friendly celebration of love that encourages us to celebrate those most meaningful in our lives, from our best friends, to our co-workers, to our chosen families and our furry friends.
Palentine’s Day is about every form of love, so there is no right or wrong way to enjoy this special day. And it is also another golden opportunity to shower some crochet love on all our nearest and dearest.
