Hi everyone. I am so excited to share my Kathryn Beanie free crochet pattern with you.
This Easy Crochet Chemo Cap Pattern is dedicated to my friend Kathryn. She is a strong woman who survived breast cancer and is an inspiration to others. Her strength and determination show up in so many areas of her life. She is a talented musician with a huge heart, brightening the world each day.
This Beanie makes up so soft and it is the perfect project for someone needing a pretty hat to wear while having chemo treatment, but also forever afterwards as well as it is so stylish. I used the soft pink Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick yarn for my Kathryn Beanie.

Description of the Kathryn Beanie Free Pattern.
The Kathryn Beanie Free crochet pattern is a top down beanie. This beanie is made by using the single crochet stitch for the crown of the hat and then the moss stitch for the body of the hat, (this is a stitch that uses the single crochet and ch1 stitches). The hat uses super bulky yarn and is worked on a 15.0 mm hook, so it has this great cozy texture. The brim is made with single crochets make into the back loop only.
I have video tutorials on youtube showing how to do the single crochet stitch, the moss stitch and also the single crochet into the back loop only. There are left and right handed versions for these tutorials.
Don’t forget to pin it for later so you don’t lose it.
Here are the video tutorials on how to make a Basic Chunky Beanie.
All About the Yarn.
I nearly always use Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick whenever I make up my Chunky Beanie crochet patterns. I tried using a substitute but it never had the luxurious, cozy appeal. I think it is the fact that this yarn is 20% wool and 80% acrylic, so it has a softness and springiness that is hard to duplicate with other yarns. You can however substitute any super bulky weight yarn you have available to make these beanies, but they might have a different feel and vibe.
I have used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick on other crochet patterns here on my blog, including the Short and Chunky Fingerless Gloves and my Warmest Feet Ever Slipper Socks.
Colourways:
Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick yarn is available in a wide variety of shades, including neutrals, and lovely earth tones and pinks etc. It is such a user friendly yarn and just great for making these crochet beanies. I used Blossom Pink for this Kathryn Beanie.
Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick is a super bulky weight yarn with a number 6 on the label.
Care instructions for Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick.

You can machine wash this yarn but the initial water temperature should not exceed 40C or 105F. You can Dry Clean it with any solvent. Do not use any bleach products on Lion Brand Thick and Quick. You can use a machine dryer at the hottest available temperature setting. Do not us an iron to smooth or finish items made with this yarn.
