Introducing the Versatile Water Bottle/Phone Holder. This bottle holder is great as it has a pocket to hold your phone at the same time. Super handy.
The Versatile Water Bottle/Phone Holder is worked in the round and made with the simple double crochet stitch. I use a worsted weight (4) yarn in two colours, and an H hook. You may also use cotton yarn for this project

The Versatile Water Bottle/Phone Holder
Supplies you will need:
Yarn: worsted weight yarn (4) I used a 100% acrylic yarn for the bottle/phone holder you see in the pictures. You will need two colours.
I used yarn from my stash but Red Heart Super Saver would be a great yarn for this bottle holder.
You will need approximately 175-200 yds in total.
I call the colours Colour A, and B, in the pattern instructions.
Hook: Size H – 5mm Notions: Scissors, tapestry needle.
Gauge: 12 dc – 7 dc rows = 4” (10 cm)
Abbreviations (uses US conventions)
Ch = chain
Sl st = slip stitch
st = stitch
dc = double crochet
This pattern uses US terminology. The US and UK crochet terms are different, but they use the same terms to describe different stitches. Here is a simple conversion chart for anyone in the UK.

Size:
This pattern was designed to adapt to fit most water bottles.
Laid flat it is 4.5” wide, (12 cm) and 9” tall, (23 cm) including the base flattened out. The sides are approx. 7” tall, (18cm).
Instructions:
This Water Bottle/Phone Holder is created in the round.
The chain 2 at the start of a new round does not count as a stitch.
Start with Colour A
Chain 4 and sl st into first stitch to make a small circle. You may also begin with the magic loop if you prefer. Magic loops ensure a tighter closing.
Round 1: Ch 2, Make 12 dc into the small circle space. Join with slst to the top of the chain 2. (12 dc stitches)
Round 2: Ch 2, Make 2 dc into the first stitch and make 2dc into every stitch around. Join with a slst to the top of the chain 2. (24 dc)
Round 3, Ch2, dc into the first stitch and into each st around. Join with a slst to the top of the ch2. (24 dc)
Round 4: Ch2, dc into the first stitch and into each st around. Join with a slst to the top of the ch2. (24 dc)
Change to Colour B
Round 5-7: Ch2, dc into the first stitch and into each st around. Join with a slst to the top of the ch2. (24dc)
Change to Colour A
Rounds 8-13: Ch2, dc into the first stitch and into each st around. Join with a slst to the top of the ch2. (24dc).
Change to Colour B
Round 14: Ch2, dc into the first stitch and into each st around. Join with a slst to the top of the ch2. (24dc).
Round 15: Ch1, sc into the first stitch and into each st around. Join with a slst to the top of the ch1. (24sc).
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Pocket:
With colour B
Ch 12
Row 1: sc into the 2nd ch from the hook, sc across to the end. (11 sc st)
Row 2-7: sc into the first st and into each st to the end. (11 sc st)
Change to Colour A
Row 8-9: sc into the first st and into each st to the end. (11 sc st)
Change to Colour B
Row 10-22: sc into the first st and into each st to the end. (11 sc st)
Change to Colour A
Row 23: sc into the first st and into each st to the end. (11 sc st)
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Construction:
Position the pocket on the water bottle holder.
The bottom of the pocket will be at the top of Round 3 of the bottle holder.
The top of the pocket will be even with the top of the bottle holder.
With yarn and your yarn needle start at the top corner of your phone pocket and secure the yarn and whip stitch down the side of the pocket, turn and whip stitch across the bottom of the pocket, now turn and whip stitch up the other side to the top of the phone pocket. Make sure to secure the yarn at the top of the corner.
Strap, 42”-50”
Start with Colour A
Ch 150 for the handle,
You can make your chain longer or shorter to customize it to your needs.
Row 1: Sc into the 2nd ch from the hook and sc into each stitch across.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Attaching the Strap.
Making sure that the strap is not twisted, thread one end through a hole between two dc stitches on one side of the bag and tie in a knot.
Thread the other end into the hole between two dc stitches on the opposite side of the bottle holder and tie a knot, make sure it is directly opposite the first strap end you attached.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
You now have a beautiful and functional Versatile Water Bottle/Phone Holder.
