I have made potholders in the past with T Shirt yarn. I used to upcycle old t shirts from around the house and create t shirt yarn. This makes lovely thick potholders with just the double crochet stitch.
Today I am sharing my first pattern for a potholder.
I was so happy to learn a new stitch that makes really chunky and thick potholders. By using two strands of worsted weight cotton you can make a really functional yet beautiful potholder. It is important to use 100% cotton as it is great for withstanding heat and won’t melt like acrylic yarns. This means these potholders can double as a hot pad or trivet.
I did double up the cotton so they really protect your hands from the heat. Any worsted weight cotton with work for the Practically Perfect Potholders. I had some 100% cotton in my stash and used that. I love the neutral colour and they are totally washable.
The Practically Perfect Potholder Pattern
I am so excited to share my Practically Perfect Potholder Pattern. These potholders have a fabulous texture and are thick enough to use as hotpads. I added the loops so you can hang them up for easy access.

About the Practically Perfect Potholder Pattern.
The “Practically Perfect Potholder ” is a 7″ square potholder . This potholder is perfect for protecting your hands while baking and handling hot dishes. It is made with two strands of 100% cotton held together as you work the special stitch which give it this wonderful thick texture
This potholder can also double as a hotpad or trivet to stand hot dishes on.
You can make your potholders with your choice of worsted weight yarn as long as you use 100% cotton. It is not recommended to use acrylic yarn as it can melt when in direct contact with very hot items taken directly from the oven.
