Florence Crochet Baby Blanket Free Pattern
How to Make The Florence Baby Blanket
Follow along with this Easy Baby Blanket pattern and learn how to make a soft and lightweight baby blanket
About The Florence Baby Blanket.
My nephew recently had twins a boy and a girl.
Of course I had to make them each a baby blanket to welcome them into the world.
This is the Florence Baby Blanket, and it is for the little girl twin. It is a free crochet pattern for a light weight beginner friendly baby blanket and you will be surprised how easy it is. I used a light weight (3) Yarn for the ones in these pictures.
The Florence Baby Blanket is made with the V Stitch, and it looks so pretty and is very delicate.
You can customize this blanket by adding more rows to make it bigger or using less rows to make it smaller.
Also you could use a chunkier yarn and the appropriate hook to make a heavier blanket.

Introducing the Florence Baby Blanket Pattern. This blanket is a beginner friendly blanket and was first made with super soft (3) light weight Bernat Baby Sport Yarn, which has since been discontinued. I recommend you use Loops and Threads Baby Cuddles yarn in its place. It is a light weight (3) yarn and works up to make a beautiful baby blanket
I love the V-stitch pattern used in this blanket. It adds texture and works up easily.
This modern contemporary design is a simple pattern for beginners.
For those new to crochet, I have a video tutorial on youtube that will demonstrate how to make the double crochet for you, as well as how to do the v stitch.
So here we go, good luck.
The Florence Baby Blanket Pattern.
Finished Size: The blanket is about 36″ by 36″ approximately

You can use Loops and Threads Baby Cuddles Yarn, a 3 light weight yarn as this is currently available. (The yarn used for the blankets in these pictures has since been discontinued.)

Instructions:
Chain 102 loosely
Row 1: Make 2DC into the 4th chain from the hook, skip the next chain, *2 DC into the next chain, skip the next chain*. Repeat from between * to * across the row until 2 chains remain. Skip 1 chain, then make 1 DC into the very last chain and turn work.
Row 2: CH 3. Work 2 DC in the space between the second and third DC stitches, (forming a “V.”) *Skip 2 stitches, then work 2 DC in between the next pair of DC from previous row*. Repeat from * to * across to the end of the row. Make 1 DC into the top of the turning chain. Turn work.
Repeat Row 2 until your blanket measures 36”. This will be approximately 72 rows.
If you want a longer blanket you can just make extra rows.
Fasten off and weave in all the ends.
Blanket Border
Start in the top corner ready to work down the side of the blanket.
Attach white yarn.
CH 3. Make 2 DC into the same space to form the first corner. Then begin working down the side of the blanket, making 2DC into the end of the 1st row, then 2 DC into each of the spaces at the end of each row as you work down the side of the blanket. Work 3 DCs into the corner.
Now working across the bottom of the blanket, work 1 DC into each stitch across the bottom of the blanket. Work 3 DCs into the corner.
Continue working around the blanket, working along the other side and the top as described above. Remember to always make 3DCs into each corner.
Join with a slip stitch to the top of the ch3 starting chain when you are back where you began the border.
For a wider border CH2 and DC into each st around the blanket one more time, making 3DC into each corner.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
You have just made a beautiful Florence Baby Blanket.
