Description of The Pacific Poncho: A free poncho pattern.

The Pacific Poncho is made up of two identical rectangles that are seamed at the top, with a neck opening.  To make this free poncho pattern all you use are double crochet stitches and you have such a modern, minimalist, cozy poncho.
The only sewing you need to do is across the shoulders. You can also use the slip stitch or single crochet to do this if you wish.

Design Inspiration for The Pacific Poncho

The inspiration for my Pacific Poncho was my desire to create a stylish yet beginner friendly fall fashion crochet pattern. The Pacific Poncho fits the bill perfectly. This free poncho pattern is so easy for beginners to follow. It allows those new to crochet to create a beautiful fashion forward piece with just the double crochet stitch. There is no decreasing or increasing involved and yet it looks simply stunning.
I used Red Heart Comfort in Marley and I love the warmth and look of this yarn. The drape is perfect for this warm and cozy poncho.

The Freedom Beanie would look so good with this poncho. Also you might want to pair it with my  Short and Chunky Fingerless Gloves.

Row 38: dc into the first stitch and every st across to the end.  89 (103, 118) dc.

Note: Your panel should be 26” long approx.  Measure it to see if you have the correct length. If you need to you can do additional rows to make it longer, or pull out rows if it is too long.

Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Construction.

Shoulder Seams.

Lay the back panel on a flat surface with the right side facing up. Now lay the front panel on top of it with the right side facing down.

Measure in 13” (15.5”, 18”) [33 (39.5, 45.5 cm] from each outer edge on the top edge of the poncho and mark with a stitch marker (or a piece of short yarn or pins).  This gives you the two shoulders for your poncho.  Sew along the shoulder seam from the outer edge up to the stitch marker or pin and make sure to reinforce the neck edges so they are secure.

The neck opening will measure 10 (11, 12)” [25.5 (28, 30.5) cm]. These measurements can be adjusted to fit your head size.

Weave in the ends.

Turn the poncho right side out and you are done. Try it on and adjust the neck opening if necessary.

I hope you enjoy your new Pacific Poncho.
