Description of Pam’s Cat Hat.
Cat hats are very popular as they are fun hats to make and wear. Here is the first one I designed, which was for adults to wear. It is a simple tube made in the round with double crochet, so there are no side seams. The only seam is across the top. It is a really beginner friendly pattern.
I was asked by customer if I could make my popular teen/adult Cat Hat Pattern in a child’s size and so I decided to add a toddler/preschooler size as well as a child/tweenie size.
Here is my granddaughter modelling this child/tweenie size for me.
You can made the adult and child size and you have a Mommy and Me Cat Hat Combo.
I also have a Striped Cat Hat Pattern now.
You can find my Simple Striped Cat Hat Pattern here.
Accessories to add while wearing your Cat Hat.
It you like creating different winter accessories you might like to style your cat hat with some gloves or a scarf. This hat would work great with my Winter Time Fingerless Gloves as well as with the Cascade Scarf,

Pam’s Cat Hat Pattern
Pattern by Pam Carr 2017
I have made this cat hat free crochet pattern as a simple pattern for beginners. You can make a cat hat for all your cat loving children and it also turns out it is the perfect “Mommy and Me” Hat Set.
This hat comes in sizes for a toddler/preschooler, child/tweenie or teen/adult. It is designed to fit snugly so the corners form ears when it is put on your head. For those new to crochet, there are many videos on youtube that will demonstrate the single crochet and double crochet stitches. So here we go, good luck.
Supplies you will need:
Yarn: One skein of Worsted weight (4). I got three hats out of one skein of Caron’s Simply Soft Yarn, (6 oz. / 170 g and 315 yard / 288 m.) The colour in my pictured hats is Caron’s Simply Soft yarn watermelon.
This yarn also comes in lots of great neutral shades perfect for cat hats.
You can use any worsted weight (4) yarn for this hat.
Hook: size 5 mm, US – H/8
Notions: Tapestry needle and scissors.

Sc across the top opening, joining the stitches from the front to those on the back. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
The hat should fit snugly and when it is on, you can pinch the corners to make the ears more prominent.
