I’m so happy to introduce the “Simple Fingerless Gloves” Free Crochet Pattern to you, and it is just in time for the spring season. I used a cheerful pink worsted weight yarn for this fingerless gloves free pattern. These fingerless gloves are perfect for wearing in the spring to keep your hands cozy while leaving your fingers free for texting or taking pictures on your phone. Having a change in colour for the spring time can make you feel the winter gray days are in the past.

The Inspiration for my Simple Fingerless Gloves Free Crochet Pattern.
The inspiration for my Simple fingerless Gloves free crochet pattern came from my customers who visit my market stall. There was a demand for a pair of gloves made with worsted weight yarn and not the super bulky yarn I used on most of my fingerless gloves on my stall. They asked for something that was a dense texture to cover the hands completely and not something lacy with holes. SO I came up with this quick and easy pattern using the double crochet stitch. There is also a short cuff and top trim created by the fpdc, bpdc rib pattern. This is all explained in the pattern below.

The Simple Fingerless Gloves Free Pattern

Introducing the “The Simple Fingerless Gloves.” They are perfect for springtime and any time of the year. Using any worsted weight (4) yarn creates finished gloves that are warm but have a gorgeous sense of style. These gloves are fun to wear while keeping your hands warm in the springtime’s changeable weather or when you want something stylish to add to your look. Its great have your fingers free for texting or taking pictures on your phone.
This fingerless glove pattern is perfect for beginners or intermediate crocheters.
For those new to crochet, there are many videos on youtube that will demonstrate the double crochet stitch. I have video tutorials for left and right handed double crochet on my channel.
The Simple Fingerless Glove Pattern
Finished Size:
Small / child, 6” circumference or 3” wide, 6” tall approximately
Large child/woman’s medium. 6.5-7.5” circumference or 3.5”- 4” wide, 6” tall approximately
Large: 8-9.5” circumference or 4.5” wide, 6.5” tall approximately
Supplies you will need for the gloves:
Yarn: One skein of worsted weight (4) yarn.
Any worsted weight (4) yarn can be used.
Hook: H/8 – 5mm.
Notions: Scissors, tapestry needle.
Gauge: 11 dc – 7 rows = 4” (10 cm)
Abbreviations (uses US conventions)

Ch = chain

fpdc = front post double crochet

bpdc = back post double crochet
This pattern uses US terminology. The US and UK crochet terms are different, but they use the same terms to describe different stitches. Here is a simple conversion chart for anyone in the UK.

Special Stitch used in the Cuff and Top Trim of the Simple Fingerless Glove pattern.
For the cuff and trim you will do the alternating Front Post Double Crochet and Back Post Double Crochet.

FPDC or front post double crochet.
Yarn over, insert hook from the front side of the work to back and then to front again, around the post of the indicated stitch on the previous row; yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through two loops, (2 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through two loops, (1 loop on hook).
BPDC or back post double crochet.
Yarn over, insert hook from the back side of the work to front and to back again around the post of the indicated stitch on the previous row; yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through two loops (2 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through two loops (1 loop on hook)
A tip to remember when working this ribbed cuff.
When you work 1 front post double crochet (FP DC) around the post of the double crochet in the row below, this stitch is raised on the surface of the fabric facing you. Always make sure that the post stitches are raised to the same side in each successive row or round. Keep an eye on the ribs and remember: If the stitch you’re working is raised to the front, work a front post stitch; if the stitch is raised to the back, work a back post stitch.
Instructions:
The instructions for all sizes are written below.
I have written three numbers to represent the number of stitches you will have at the end of each row. The first number is for the child size, and the second number is for the medium size and the last is for the large size.
Eg: When you see Ch 20 (24, 28) the 20 is for the small size and the 24 is medium and the 28 is for the large size.
When you see Row 4-(7, 8, 9): you will do row 4 and then work until row 7 for small, row 8 for medium and row 9 for the large size.
These gloves are crocheted in the round so you do not turn the work.
First hand.
Hint: chain loosely if you find it hard to fit the hand into the glove.
Ch, 20 (24, 28,) and join with a sl st into the first chain to form a ring, being careful not to twist the chain.
Row 1: ch 2, dc into each ch around, join to the top of the ch2 with a sl st. 20 (24, 28)
Rows 2: ch2, (fpdc into dc in row below, bpdc into next dc in row below), repeat between the brackets 9 more times, join to the top of the ch2 with a sl st. 20 (24, 28)
Row 3: ch2 (fpdc into dc in row below, bpdc into next dc in row below), repeat between the brackets to the end of the round, join to the top of the ch2 with a sl st. 20 (24, 28)
Row 4-(7, 8, 9): ch2, dc into each st around, join to the top of the ch2 with a sl st. 20 (24, 28)
Row 8 (9, 10): ch2, dc into the next stitch, ch 2, skip 2 st, dc into next 17, (21, 25) sc st, join to the top of the ch2 with a sl st. 20 (24, 28)
Row 9 (10, 11) ch2, dc into next stitch, 2 dc over the ch 2 thumb hole, dc in the next 17 (21, 25) stitches, join to the top of the ch2 with a sl st. 20 (24, 28)
Rows 10-11 (11-12, 12-13): ch2 (fpdc into dc in row below, bpdc into next dc in row below), repeat between the brackets to the end of the round, join to the top of the ch2 with a sl st. 20 (24, 28)
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
