Description of my Ember Granny Stripe Rectangle Wrap:
The Ember Granny Stripe Wrap is created from the bottom up which makes it the perfect project to do while chilling with a movie. Once you have got into the rhythm of the granny stripe stitch you just keep going.
This free rectangular wrap pattern uses the granny stripe stitch. I chose the granny stripe stitch as it is a simple stitch but creates such a high impact. The texture it creates is qvery pretty.
This Ember Granny Stripe Wrap is 16″ wide approximately and 86″ long. Of course you can customize it by adding extra stitches for added width, and doing extra rows to make it longer. Just remember to always go up in multiples of 3 when adding stitches for the granny stripe stitch.
Don’t forget to pin it for later so you don’t lose it.
Looking for another fun crochet project.
Here is a great video tutorial on how to make a bralette. There is a right as well as a left handed version of this tutorial so check it out. There is a left handed version available too.
All About the Yarn I Chose for my Ember Granny Stripe Stitch Wrap.
For this free Ember wrap pattern I decided to use Loops and Threads Facets yarn in the colourway Ember. I chose this yarn as the colours were subtle and warm and it was perfect for my vision of a boho style wrap.
Loops and Threads Facets yarn is a premium acrylic with beautiful Silky Softness. Enjoy the luxurious feel of Facets Yarn as you make your shawl. This medium-weight yarn offers a silky softness combined with durability. It is also perfect for garments as well as accessories. You can also make home décor items that feel smooth and comfortable against the skin.
The reason I chose this yarn is beacause it has such beautiful Ombre Jewel Tones . There are many other colours besides Ember and thy all will elevate your projects with a stunning array of ombre jewel tones. The rich color transitions add depth, dimension, and elegance to every stitch, making your scarves, cardigans, and blankets truly stand out.
Facets Yarn is rated as medium weight (4), and it is so versatile as it is ideal for a wide variety of projects. Whether you’re crocheting stylish wearables or luxurious home décor, this yarn provides the perfect balance of warmth, flexibility, and structure.
Generous Yardage & Smooth Texture – Each 3.5 oz skein offers 279 yards (256 meters) of yarn, ensuring plenty of material for larger projects. Its smooth texture glides effortlesslyas you crochet, ensuring even stitches and an enjoyable crafting experience.
Loops and Threads Facets yarn is easy to care for. It is designed for lasting beauty. This yarn is easy to maintain with simple hand washing and flat drying. It retains its silky softness and vibrant color, allowing your handcrafted items to look and feel amazing for years to come.
This yarn is 100% acrylic and it is a number 4 worsted weight yarn. Each skein has 279 yards or 256 metres and weighs 3.5oz or 100 grams.
This yarn is so very soft and beautiful to work with.

Special Stitch for this Pattern.
The Granny Stripe Stitch.
This is how you make the granny stripe stitch when working flat.
Make a chain of multiples of 3 plus 3 more chains for the turning ch.
Row 1: Dc into the 3rd ch from the hook, *Skip 2 chain stitches, then work 3dcs into the next chain stitch*, (this is called a shell). Repeat between * and * until there are two stitches left, sk1 st, work 2 dc into the last st.
You should have a row that begins and ends with 2dc’s. on either side of all your shells.
For the next row you will be working into the spaces between the 3dc shells of the previous row.
Row 2: Ch 3, work 3dc stitches (a shell) into the first sp between the 2dcs at the end of the previous row and the next 3 dc shell. Work a 3dc shell into each space across. At the end of the row, work 1 dc into the top of the ch3 made at start of previous row. Turn work.
Row 3: Ch 3, 1 dc in the same space as the ch 3, work a 3dc shell into each space between the shells of the previous row until the end of the row, work 2 dc into the top of the turning chain from the previous row. Turn work.
Rows 2 and 3 are repeated to make the traditional granny stripe stitch when working flat.
