How to crochet a Winter Basket with this Free Crochet Pattern.
Introducing the Winter Basket Free Crochet Pattern for you. This super bulky basket pattern is perfect for holding keys and small items so you don’t lose them.
Crochet Baskets are so soft and comforting and add a great feeling of warmth to your home decor. I love to have a few around as they are great for organizing and storing all kinds of things that need a home.
This basket is it a great addition to any space in your home. The Winter Basket is made with super bulky weight yarn is so full of character.
I used mainly the Half Double crochet stitch and an H, 5mm hook for this Winter basket. Using the smaller hook with the super bulky weight yarn is a technique that gives it the solid texture that is needed so the basket stands up and holds its shape.
This basket looks so beautiful when make with the Kale colour of Lion Brand Wool Ease yarn as it has little flecks of different colours throughout the basket.
You can make this Winter Basket with any super bulky weight (6) yarn but I definitely prefer the Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick for this basket.
For those new to crochet, there are left and right handed videos on my Carroway Crochet YouTube channel that will demonstrate the single crochet and half double crochet stitch.

You can make this basket using any super bulky (6) weight yarn. I used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick and I highly recommend this as the best yarn for this bowl as its thickness adds to the strength of the bowls structure.
To make the basket firm I used an H 5mm hook which is smaller than the recommended hook size for this weight of yarn. This ensures your basket stands up nicely and holds its shape.
Using Christmas colours helps to get this great Christmas folksy look. Such a beautiful addition to any space. It is perfect for holding chocolates of other Christmas goodies.
For those new to crochet, there are left and right-handed videos on my Carroway Crochet YouTube channel that will demonstrate the single crochet and half double crochet stitch.
So here we go, good luck.

You can use any super bulky (6) yarn in your stash.
Hook: Size-H/8- 5.00 mm Notions: Scissors, tapestry needle.
Gauge: 9 hdc – 8 hdc rows = 4” (10 cm)
Special Stitch for this project.
For this basket you need to do the half double crochet back loop only stitch. (hdcblo). This helps create the bottom edge of the basket as you start to create the sides of the basket.
You will be working the half double crochet stitch, but it is done into the back loop of the stitch.
I created a video showing how to do the back loop only technique using the single crochet stitch and posted it onto youtube for you. I hope this helps you understand how to work into the back loop of the stitch.
