Super Soft Baby Blanket

About the Super Soft Baby Blanket.

I recently found some Caron Latte Cakes while I was out yarn shopping and I fell in love with this colour and with how soft the yarn was.
Of course I had to make a baby blanket with it and this is what I came up with.
This Super Soft Baby Blanket is a  free beginner friendly baby blanket and you will be surprised how easy it is. I used a the colour Sunset Strip in the Caron Latte Cakes for the ones in these pictures.
I used alternating rows for this blanket. First there are two rows of half double crochets alternating with two rows of V Stitches. It makes for a beautiful baby blanket.
You can customize this blanket by adding more rows to make if bigger or using less rows to make it smaller.
Also you could use a chunkier yarn and the appropriate hook to make a heavier blanket.

            Super Soft Baby Blanket

Introducing the Super Soft Baby Blanket Pattern.  This blanket is a beginner friendly blanket made with super soft (5) weight Caron Latte Cakes Yarn. This yarn works up to make a beautiful, soft baby blanket
I love alternating two rows of half double crochet stitch with 2 rows of the V-stitch in this blanket. It adds texture and works up quickly and easily.
This modern contemporary design is a simple pattern for beginners.
For those new to crochet, I have a video tutorial on youtube that will demonstrate how to make this blanket.

Instructions:

Chain 107 loosely
Row 1:  HDC into the 2nd ch from the hook, HDC into each ch across. Turn work. (106 st)
Row 2:  Ch 1, HDC into the first st and into each st across. Turn work.  (106 st)
Row 3: Ch3. Skip the 1st st, make 2DC into the next st, skip the next st, *2 DC into the next st, skip the next st*. Repeat from between * to * across the row until 2 sts remain. Skip 1 st, then make 1 DC into the very last st. Turn work.
Row 4: Ch 3. Work 2 DC in the space between the second and third DC stitches, (forming a “V.”) then work 2 DC in between the next pair of DC from previous row.  Repeat across to the end of the row. Make 1 DC into the top of the turning chain. Turn work.
Row 5: Ch 1, HDC into the first st and into each st across. Turn work. (106 st)
Row 6: Ch 1, HDC into the first st and into each st across. Turn work. (106 st)
Rows 7: Ch2. Make 2DC into the 1st st, skip the next st, *2 DC into the next st, skip the next st*. Repeat from between * to * across the row until 2 sts remain. Skip 1 st, then make 1 DC into the very last st. Turn work.
Rows 8: Ch 3. Work 2 DC in the space between the second and third DC stitches, (forming a “V.”) then work 2 DC in between the next pair of DC from previous row.  Repeat across to the end of the row. Make 1 DC into the top of the turning chain. Turn work.
Rows 5-8 form the pattern for this blanket.
Keep repeating two rows of the half double crochet and then 2 rows of the v stitch as described until you get to the desired length. I made my blanket 39” long approximately.
I like to finish off with 2 rows of hdc.
Fasten off and weave in all the ends.

Blanket Border

Start in the top corner ready to work down the side of the blanket.
Attach yarn to the corner.
Ch1. Then begin working down the side of the blanket, making 1HDC into the end of the HDC rows, then 2 HDC into the end of each of the v stitch rows as you work down the side of the blanket to the corner.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Attach the yarn to the other corner.
Ch1, work up the other side as described above.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
