Waffle Stitch Crochet Square

Fall Waffle Stitch Crochet Square

I am so excited to share my Fall Waffle Stitch Crochet Square Pattern as a part of the Charity Cozy Fall MAL. It is a free pattern here on my blog.

It was designed especially for the Charity Cozy Fall Makealong, organized by Noorsknits and knittingwithchopsticks! Both Noorain and Hortense have personal stories and have had loved ones affected by childhood cancer and they organized this event as a means to give back where it’s most needed. Half of the proceeds from this event were  donated to Cure Childhood Cancer.
I have left the free pattern up here for anyone interested in using it as part of any crochet blanket or afghan project you are working on.

Waffle Stitch Crochet Square

Introducing the Fall Waffle Stitch Blanket Square Pattern.

It is a beginner friendly pattern and with easy to follow instructions. Once you have mastered the waffle stitch you are good to go. You will only use the waffle stitch to make this super textured square. I just love the depth of the texture that this stitch gives you.

The instructions for the Waffle stitch are here for you, but there are also videos on youtube to help you learn the waffle stitch if needed.

You are also more than welcome to contact me with any questions you have about the instructions.

The Front Post Double Crochet.

Here are the written instructions for how to do the FPDC or front post double crochet.

The Waffle Stitch

Here are the written instructions for how to do the basic Waffle Stitch.

This stitch uses multiples of 3, then add 4 more chains.

The Waffle stitch is made by using a series of double crochet stitches and front post double crochet stitches. These stitches are repeated in the multiples of three mentioned above.

Chain a multiple of 3 + 4

Row 1: Double crochet in the third chain from the hook and in each chain to the end. Ch2 and turn work.

Row 2: Dc in the very first stitch. * (FPDC) around the post of the next dc stitch (in the previous row). DC in each of the next two stitches* Repeat between * and * to the end of the row.  Ch 2 and turn.

Row 3: Dc in the very first stitch. FPDC in the next stitch (in the previous row). * DC in the next stitch. FPDC in each of the next two stitches. (from the previous row)*   Repeat  between * and * until the last three stitches. Double crochet in the third to last stitch, FPDC in the second to last stitch, and double crochet in the final stitch. Ch 2 and turn.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you have as many rows you wish. You will see the waffles start to appear.

Always finish with row 2

Instructions:

Note: The instructions for this square differ slightly to the instructions given above. This is to suit the look of the square for use in a blanket.
