Kids Slipper Socks Inspiration.

When I  released The “Warmest Feet Ever” Slipper Socks pattern for adults a while ago I started getting inquiries about children’s sizing. My intentions were good but it is quite an undertaking so it took me longer than I expected it to.
As you can see here, one of my original testers for the adult slippers pattern even had the idea to modify my slipper socks crochet pattern and make some for her children and they turned out amazing.

Kids Slipper Socks Crochet pattern

Last week I had yet another request for the slipper socks in children’s sizing and it was all I needed to motivate me to get the pattern sizing done for  kid’s slipper socks for ages 1 year up to 8 years.
I am so happy to be able to finally post my child sized pattern for you.
As with my adult “Warmest Feet Ever” Slipper Socks pattern, the inspiration for these kid’s slipper socks was to create a chunky slipper socks pattern that is beginner friendly and keeps kid’s feet super warm and cozy. Using Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick yarn makes for the softest slipper socks.

Kids Slipper Socks Description

This kids slipper socks crochet pattern comes in sizes extra small, small, medium and large. The Extra Small pattern fits Children’s sizes 3-7, the Small fits Children’s sizes 8-10, the Medium fits Children’s sizes 11-12 and the Large fits Children’s Size 13.   There is a fair amount of stretch and they are meant to have a roomy fit.
These kids slipper socks are super beginner friendly and you only need to know how to single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet to make them.  I have videos on my youtube channel showing how to make these stitches.

This Kid’s Slipper Socks Free Pattern is so beginner friendly.

Using the double crochet stitch it is a simple pattern for beginners. There is some sewing required at the back of the heel. That is all the seaming there is.
For those new to crochet, I have added videos on youtube that will demonstrate the double crochet stitch for both left and right handed crocheters.

What is the Best Yarn for the Kids Slipper Socks.

I make all my Kid’s ‘Warmest Feet Ever Slipper Socks’ with Lions Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick.
The reason I chose Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick for these slipper socks is it is 20% wool which means they are extra warm. They feel so soft and comfy when you slip your foot into them.
This yarn comes is so many beautiful colours you are sure to find something you love.

Kids Warmest Feet Ever Slipper Socks for Extra Small

 1-2 Years

1-2 years: for Children’s sizes 3-7
Finished Slipper Sock Size: Foot length 5“/ circumference. 6”.
Note: For this size I feel that you might want to add a tie to the slippers (see pic 1 above) to keep them on the feet better, but this is of course a personal choice.

Instructions:

Please note that the Ch 2 worked at the beginning of a Round does not count as a stitch. Do not turn at the end of each round as it is worked in the round, except when the instructions indicate you must turn your work.
Chain 3 and join to make a small ring, or make a Magic Loop to start.
Round 1: Ch 2 and make 6 DC in the ring, join to top of first DC with a slst. (6DC)
Round 2: Ch2, 2 DC in each stitch around, join to top of first DC, (12 DC)
Round 3: Ch2, DC in each stitch around, join to top of first DC, (12 DC)
Round 4: Ch2, DC in 9 stitches, next HDC in next st, SC in the next stitch, HDC in last st, join to top of first DC, (12 st)
Round 5: Ch2, DC in 9 stitches (9 DC)
Round 6: Ch2, turn, DC in next 9 stitches, (9 DC)
Round 7: Ch1, turn, HDC in next 3 stitches, HDC3 together, HDC in next 3 stitches (7 HDC)
Do not fasten off.
Slip stitch to the top of the 1st stitch of this row to create the heel. This forms a circular loop for the foot to slip into when the slipper is finished.
Now turn the slipper so the toe is facing away from you.
Begin to work up the ankle.
Kids Slipper Socks Crochet pattern
Round 1: Ch 1 and SC into the ends of each row and around the front of the foot, then up the other side, sl st into the top of the ch1 (16 st approx)
Round 2: Ch2, DC in each stitch around, join to top of first DC.
Round 3: Ch1, HDC in each stitch around, join to top of first DC.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Turn inside out and sew up the heel seam.
Kids Slipper Socks
When making these slipper socks for the smaller sizes you may wish to thread a strand of the super bulky yarn around the slipper just above the SC row created as you begin the upper part of the slipper sock.
I used a yarn needle to weave the strand of yarn in and out of the SC stitches in the SC row, beginning at the mid centre point at the front of the slipper. Pull on the strand to tighten it to fit more snugly and then tie a bow to fasten. Trim the ends of the yarn leaving enough to make a knot in each end. See the photo on Pg 7 for reference.
Now you are ready to make the second one.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
